Youth Pastor

Job Opportunity: Youth Pastor at St. Mark’s Church

Location: St Mark’s Haydock, West End Road, Haydock, WA11 0AX
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Up to 3 years (subject to funding), with a 6-month probationary period
Salary:

  • Basic: £12.60 per hour (£23,587.20 per year)
  • Experienced: £27,125.28 (3+ years youth work experience and qualification)
    Holidays: 244 hours per annum, including Bank Holidays
    Notice Period: 4 weeks
    DBS: Enhanced DBS Check Required
    Church Membership: Weekly worshipping member of St Mark’s Haydock
    Location: St Mark’s Church Offices, Church and Centre
    Other Benefits: PAYE/NI contributions and pension scheme available

About the Role:

Join St. Mark’s Church as a Youth Pastor, partnering with the Vicar and Associate Minister to lead youth and children’s ministries, fostering discipleship and outreach to the younger generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Build on and grow the Church’s vision for Youth and Children
  2. Develop a culture for our young people to encounter God.
  3. Lead our youth ministries, including oversight of volunteers.
  4. Organise and deliver youth activities and school ministries.
  5. Provide pastoral care and build relationships with young people and their families.
  6. Plan special events focused on youth and children, promoting outreach.

Key Attributes:

Essential:

  • Passionate disciple of Jesus with strong biblical knowledge.
  • Active member of a Christian church for at least 3 years.
  • Recent experience in leading youth work in a church context.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, and digital skills.

Desirable:

  • Motivated, organised, and able to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth work or schoolwork.
  • Full driving licence.

Verger

Position: Casual Church Verger (Funerals and Weddings)
Location: St. Mark’s Church Haydock
Wage: £35 per burial / £55 per Funeral / £75 per Wedding
Contract: Casual

About the Role:
Join our team at St. Mark’s Church as a Casual Church Verger, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of funerals, burials, and weddings. This role is key in creating a welcoming environment and supporting families during significant moments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the church, car park, and graveyard for services.
  • Ensure the space is neat and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with the admin team on logistical details.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for funerals and burials.
  • Welcome attendees and assist with their needs during services.
  • Manage visuals and sound during funerals.

 

Key Attributes:

  • Active, regular member of St. Mark’s Church.
  • Friendly, approachable, and a team player.
  • Physically capable and detail-oriented.
  • Good IT skills and a willingness to learn.
