We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lay Pastor to join our team at St Mark’s Haydock, with a specific focus on overseeing and leading our youth, and supporting our children’s ministries. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is committed to discipling the next generation and helping them deepen their faith in Jesus.
With 30-40 unchurched Year 6-11’s connecting with us every Wednesday night, 7 faithful young people on a Sunday, tons of school opportunities and working in a great team, we’re so excited you’re reading this right now. Please keep reading and get in touch if you have any specific questions.
As the Lay Pastor for Youth and Children, you will be responsible for developing and promoting a culture where young people can encounter God and grow as disciples of Christ. This will involve:
The ideal candidate will be a passionate disciple of Jesus, with strong biblical knowledge and the ability to communicate the faith effectively with children and young people. They will have recent experience in leading youth work in a church context and be a committed, active member of a Christian church for at least the last 3 years.

We offer a competitive salary, ranging from the Real Living Wage for those with less experience to a higher rate for those with 3 or more years of primary youth work experience and a relevant qualification. Additionally, we provide a generous holiday allowance, a pension scheme, and other benefits.

Full Time: 36 hours per week
Salary Sliding Scale: £23,587.20 – £27,125.28 depending on experience
