Supporting God's Vision for Haydock

The first thing we want to say is Thank YOU ❤️

Everything that we do at St Marks – our work in the community, our local mission and our worldwide mission is only possible because of your generosity.

Our Christmas and Summer parties, Kids groups, Easter activities, Sunday Services, TANGO, Kids and Youth work, midweek ministries, Alpha and so much more, as well as the money that we give to charities at home and abroad to help with their work bringing light into darkness.

It’s incredible to be able to work together and be inspired by love to change lives for the good, with Jesus at the helm.

Ways to Give

If you are interested in giving to help us in our mission for us and others to Know Jesus, Love Each other and Care for our Community, then here are some ways you can give:

This is a secure way to set up a direct debit to St Mark’s. It puts you fully in control of regular automated giving and is smarter than a standing order.

For St Mark’s, it has the added benefit of processing the gift aid on your gift for us, the option to increase your gift annually with inflation, simplifying administration, saving money for the church and your gift is more protected (as a Direct Debit) should something go wrong.

You can set up your PGS giving here and find out further information about it here.

Monthly giving is absolutely vital to our mission as it enables us to plan ahead and work together on organising effective, long-term projects to bless people in many different ways from the love of Jesus.

To set up or amend a standing order, log in to your online banking or visit your local branch with our bank account details. If you email us at info@stmarkshaydock.org or pop into the office, we also have a form available if you prefer.

Once you have set up or amended your standing order, please email us so we can identify your gift and thank you. If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider also claiming the Gift Aid (you can contact us by email or in Church to find out how to do this).

You can donate by Text message on your mobile phone by texting the word MYGIFT followed by the amount number to 70450 For example sending a SMS text message of MYGIFT 5 will donate £5 to us. The cost on your phone-bill will be the cost of the donation, plus the cost of a standard text message.

You can give by cash, credit or debit card at any Sunday Service. We have a collection basket and also a debit card machine located by the entrance door.

If you are considering making a bequest to St Marks or have already included a gift to St Marks in your will and would like to speak to someone about legacy giving, please contact info@stmarkshaydock.org.

To explore this further, why not visit the Church of England’s legacy page here.

Whether you’re a marathon runner, star baker, tough mudder, sky diving dare-devil or would like your friends and family to donate to St Marks or a St Marks ministry in lieu of receiving gifts for a special occasion, we’d love to help you coordinate your efforts. If you have an idea for a fundraiser or need help to set up your own, please contact our Giving Team on giving@stmarkshaydock.org who would be happy to assist.

Many employers offer Payroll Giving which allows you to give directly to St Marks from your salary before tax is deducted. This means if you give £100 per month and are a basic rate taxpayer, the gift will only cost you £80 from your net pay. If you pay a higher rate of tax, £100 a month will only cost you £60 from your net pay. To find out if your employer offers Payroll Giving, contact your HR

Many employers also offer matched giving schemes. In most cases, the company will match your donation pound-for-pound up to a specific amount; a handful of organisations will even double your gift.  You can download a list here of companies that we understand currently match gifts donated by their employees. This list is not definitive, and many more companies may also offer this option.

If your employer is not listed, please contact the Human Resources or Social Responsibility Office at your workplace to find out if they operate a matched giving scheme.

Some employers may not match giving for religious purposes, though most will match gifts to our social and community outreach ministries such as TANGO. If you require advice on how to use matched giving, or need help allocating your giving for match giving purposes, please contact us on info@stmarkshaydock.org.

Gift Aid

If you pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the UK, we can claim back 25p on every £1 you donate through the Gift Aid scheme. To permit us to do this, please email us at info@stmarkshaydock.org or give us a call on 01744 602641.

If you pay tax above the basic rate, you can personally claim the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation (25%). You can do this either through your self-assessment tax return, or by asking HMRC to amend your tax code.

Note: Please do not fill in a Gift Aid declaration if you give via a pre-tax Payroll Giving scheme as you are giving ‘pre-tax’, and thus we cannot claim tax back on the gift.

How we spend your gifts

We are grateful to God and you for every gift given to the work of St Mark’s. Here is the video Dan prepared for Vision and Commitment Sunday (video above) to show you how we spend the gifts received.
