Maintenance Person

Location: St. Mark’s Church Campus
Hours: Flexible, 10 hours per week
Contract: Permanent (6-month probation)
Salary: £12.60 per hour (£6,570 per annum)
Benefits: 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme, and more.

About the Role:
Join St. Mark’s Church as a Maintenance Person, responsible for the general upkeep of our campus, which includes the Church, Centre, T.A.N.G.O. Warehouse, car park, graveyard, Community Garden, dog walk, and children’s play area. Your role will also encompass maintenance of a property on Park St.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, painting, and electrical work.
  • Report defects and manage repair systems effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with contractors and church staff.

Key Attributes:

  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Basic DIY skills and relevant maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • A full UK driver’s license.

Verger

Position: Casual Church Verger (Funerals and Weddings)
Location: St. Mark’s Church Haydock
Wage: £35 per burial / £55 per Funeral / £75 per Wedding
Contract: Casual

About the Role:
Join our team at St. Mark’s Church as a Casual Church Verger, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of funerals, burials, and weddings. This role is key in creating a welcoming environment and supporting families during significant moments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the church, car park, and graveyard for services.
  • Ensure the space is neat and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with the admin team on logistical details.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for funerals and burials.
  • Welcome attendees and assist with their needs during services.
  • Manage visuals and sound during funerals.

 

Key Attributes:

  • Active, regular member of St. Mark’s Church.
  • Friendly, approachable, and a team player.
  • Physically capable and detail-oriented.
  • Good IT skills and a willingness to learn.
